What happened after week 6?

In this blog, I got as far as week 6, then there was a huge gap before posting my NaNoWriM0 so what happened next ?

My dog died, I lost a favourite Uncle, and have been generally busy... yes and procastinating as usual.

Then in October my husband had to work in London and Bristol for three days. he was booked into a London Hotel also, as luck would have it, the Tate had a pre Rapaelite exhibition on . Being a member of Tate meant that I could stay in the exhibition for the three days researching for my novel.

I got 6000 words of the first few chapters written and was very excited. Then life delayed me from keeping up the momentum.

...and along came NaNoWriMo so I started up a new novel on the first november. I'd had vague plot plans for this one , but honestly didn't think it would reach 50,000 before fizzling out. As you have to start a new novel for NaNo I went with it.

The characters soon started dictating the plot to me. I was surprised how it turned out. Much better than the plot I had planned originally !

Hopefully now I will do the research into Runes to complete the novel... and then I can go back to the pre Raphaelite one.

Nanowrimo

Well I did it !! After 30 years of procastinating I finally wrote a novel. It isn't finished yet , but I got as far as 50,529 words with NaNoWriMo in 29 days. Talk about making up for lost time :)

So there it is. The certificate to say,' I can do it.'

All I have to do now is finish it, edit it, and think about sending it off somewhere.

Week 6

I must have had a good holiday.... I only managed 1700 words in two weeks.

Must try harder  ( when the bathroom has been fitted and workmen gone )

Week 2

First week went well 1370 words.

It doesn't seem much for a weeks work but I wrote  /rewrote /tweaked and wrote so I messed around with it a lot. Hopefully it will  become easier now that I am on chapter 2 and I can see clearer where the story is going.

My first rewrite was to change the narrator from myself to a character, doing this opened my options so that I could be in two places at one time with different sets of emotions.

The second rewrite was the whole of the first chapter, I trimmed and tightened it and moved a whole block of writing to a chapter further in the future.

Then I met with a fellow writer for lunch and she read through the first chapter and trimmed /tweaked and suggested more. I came away from that lunch hour feeling as though the novel had started it's journey and had a respectable amount of miles under its belt.

The next bit will be difficult as it will require much discipline on my part. I am on holiday from this weekend and for weeks 3 and 4 and I am aiming to write 5000 words on holiday.

A tall order????

If I put it in writing on my blog then I have to give it my best efforts. It's a challenge but let's see if I can walk tall or if I will be walking the plank !!

See you in week 5

WEEK 1

I have sketched a plan... I know my characters a little bit but hope they will grow as story unfolds ..... Now to put pen to paper....  aiming for 1000 words before friday.
